Permission Form

The terms and conditions set out in this Permission Form apply to your supply of information, materials or other content (the “Materials”) to The University Court of the University of Edinburgh acting in its capacity as The Data Lab (“The Data Lab”) pursuant to the DataTech 2021 call for contributions.

Licence to use the Materials

You hereby grant to The Data Lab (and its agents, contractors, representatives and partners) a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use the Materials as part of, and in connection with, its DataFest events (the “Purpose”). This may include the Materials being accessible by all attendees of DataFest events and via The Data Lab website.

Representations and Warranties

You represent, warrant and undertake to The Data Lab:

(i) you own or hold all rights in and to the Materials that are required in order for you to grant the licence set out above and to enable The Data Lab to use the Material for the Purpose;

(ii) the use of the Materials for the Purpose will not violate or infringe upon the rights of any third party (including, but not limited to, any rights of intellectual property or data protection);

(iii) the Materials contain nothing defamatory, obscene or otherwise unlawful and do not breach any confidence or invade the privacy of any person and are not in breach of any legislation;

(iv) the information set out in the Material is true and accurate and not misleading in any respect.

Nothing in this Permission Form obliges The Data Lab to use or publish the Materials.


You shall fully indemnify and keep indemnified The Data Lab on demand from and against all costs, claims, expenses (including reasonable legal expenses), liability, losses or damage that The Data Lab and/or its agents, contractors, representatives and/or partners may suffer or incur as a result of or in connection with any breach or failure by the you to comply with the terms and conditions set out in this Permission Form.
